Hundreds of residents of Panabaj, a small Mayan town destroyed by mudslides earlier in the month when Hurricane Stan spawned torrential rains over parts of Central America, are living in shelters in nearby Santiago Atitlan. Ramirez said governmental and non-governmental agencies have provided some help to the displaced people, but she complains that prescriptions for medicine written by the agencies are useless, since many of the prescribed medications are not available in local pharmacies.
