Intown Atlanta bed and breakfast owner Adele Northrup looks up the word "iron" in a Spanish-English dictionay she gave as a Christmas present to her housekeeper, a Mexican immigrant. Northrup said she wants everyone who works for her to speak in English. "I don't like being a stranger in my own house." she said. Northrup said her grandparents, who emigrated to the United States from Russia, "got with the program right away" and learned English.
